Y.E.S.

Research indicates that teen volunteers will volunteer more and have a stronger commitment to volunteering, become engaged in their community and interested in politics and current events, and believe they can make a difference if their volunteer opportunities: (1) last a minimum of a semester, (2) involve teen volunteers in planning the activities, (3) have a reflection component, and (4) recognize and celebrate the time and effort the teens have devoted to their volunteer experiences.*

YES – Youth Empowered Service
What is YES? Have you ever thought—“someone needs to do something about this,” but didn’t know how to get started? YES is an opportunity to act for good in your community—whether locally, nationally or globally. YES supports youth in creating service initiatives while earning student service learning hours. You start by submitting an application that describes your project. In a supportive environment, you’ll be helped in your effort to get your program launched. According to one high school junior, “PROJECT CHANGE is not only allowing me to do something that I want to do, but they are teaching me how to make it happen. I am learning how to market my service project, how to fund it, how to evaluate it, and how to connect to national like-minded programs. I have discovered a world of possibilities that would not have existed without PROJECT CHANGE.”
