Research indicates that teen volunteers will volunteer more and have a stronger commitment to volunteering, become engaged in their community and interested in politics and current events, and believe they can make a difference if their volunteer opportunities: (1) last a minimum of a semester, (2) involve teen volunteers in planning the activities, (3) have a reflection component, and (4) recognize and celebrate the time and effort the teens have devoted to their volunteer experiences.*
